Young (and Young at Heart) Appalachian Musicians program began in 2010 at Oconee Heritage Center.  The program is a subsidiary of YAM and POSAM (Preserving Our Southern Appalachian Music) out of Pickens County.

OHC offers a variety of classes in traditional Appalachian musical instruments including guitar, mandolin, banjo, Clawhammer banjo, dulcimer, and fiddle.  Classes are in a group setting with instruction in tablature and playing by ear.  Classes last one hour and are held once-a-week for 6 weeks.  Sessions are held throughout the year.

Course Fees:

$60 for 6 weeks of lessons*

*No refunds will be given for missed lessons

Instrument Rentals

Instrument rental is $25 for the 6 week session.  With rental, you can take home the instrument to practice!
