Short Street between the two Museums will be blocked off from traffic and filled with music, activities, food, dancing and special exhibits relating to our Patriotic and Cultural heritage.

Patriots Hall will serve food from 11:30-1pm, The Powerty Ridge Band will play bluegrass in the morning and The Dixie Keys Brass Ensemble will play patriotic music from lunch time through the afternoon.

And the Natural Natives will be selling native plants in front of the Heritage Center in the morning. Plus there will be dancers in the afternoon and lots of other activities for the entire family.

by the regular “Movie Night at the Museum”
showing King Kong.

Project Updates Keowee Courier Building - Walhalla, SC The City of Walhalla recently deeded to the OHC the building at 50 Short Street - General Store Museum - Westminster, SC The Barrett-Jones building, future home of the OHC’s General Store Museum, - Center Church - Oakway, SC OHC has recently acquired historic Center Church in Oakway with the intent to restore and interpret the c.1870 property - At the OHC: Heritage Park, Heritage Reading Room, Farmstead Thanks to the work of volunteer Jon Fritz and our own Eddie Martin, the park is underway and nearing completion.- Read April Newsletter for more details and pictures. Attention OHC book lovers!

It is our pleasure to announce that a new local history book will be available this week.

Westminster, South Carolina, A History 1875-1983

by Sallie Mae King Harbin, Susan Schmidt, and Sally Long

will be available at the OHC General Store Museum during the times shown below. Authors will be present to sign the books and refreshments will be available. The General Store Museum will also be open for visitors and is located at 126 E. Main Street in Westminster across from the restored train depot.

Copies will be available in paperback for $45 and hardback copies will be available to order for $60. All proceeds benefit the OHC General Store Museum and the Westminster Area Historic Preservation Society.

These will make wonderful Christmas gifts so be sure to pick up your copy.

Copies will also be available for sale at the Oconee Heritage Center

and by mail for an additional $5 shipping.

Old-Time Music Gathering

The OHC hosts an Old-Time Music Gathering each month on the second Saturday from 3:00 -5:00pm. The event is free and open to everyone. Many of our guests bring homemade goodies to share.

The house band, known as the Heritage String Band, features Bill and Connie Lowe.

Please come join us to hear the sounds of clawhammer banjo, fiddle, guitar and much more!

December 17th – We're No Angels (1955) Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray and Peter Ustinov play three escaped inmates who hatch a plan to steal from a shopkeeper on Christmas. But their plans change when they find themselves actually growing to like their target and his family. (Not Rated – 105 minutes).

The OHC hosts a "Movie Night at the Museum" on the 3rd Saturday of each month beginning at 6:30 pm. Each classic movie is prefaced by a short presentation on the history associated with the film. There is no admission charge and free popcorn will be provided. Patrons are welcome to bring a comfortable chair of choice. Other seating is provided.
